Reflections

Sunset light and still water make for scenic landscapes in the Alabama delta area. And a few ripples in the water add some interesting patterns to the scene.

  1. Hi Sue. These are beautiful, especially the reflections in your second photo. And it is so wonderful to see the word “delta” and have it NOT refer to…well you know. Thanks for that. Best, Babsje

  2. Great photos, Sue!  I love your recent posts.  They take me back to my childhood when my family took me out of school for a month at a time to be with family in Florida.  We had family and close family friends in south central Florida and along the gulf coast, and the area hadn’t been spoiled by development yet.  Not as much diversity as the Alabama delta, but still magical for a child of 10 or 11 from Michigan.  My grandfather and our family friend Deke would disappear into the cypress swamps from sunup until sundown.  My grandfather was an amazing amateur naturalist.  It breaks my heart to see the development of the wild areas when we used to roam.  Thank you for your blog.

    • Thanks so much for your comment, Betsy. The short (60 mile)Alabama gulf coastline has been built up with high rise towers, but there’s is still a lot of wilderness behind the shoreline. There has been talk of getting a National park or National refuge status for the Mobile delta area, and that would certainly help preserve those unique features and creatures of this area. Thanks for writing!

  3. Well! those brought out the photographer in you! I love water movement relections. Really enjoying your posts. Jodie

  5. These are really wonderful photos, Sue! I usually tend to be struck by very calm still water, but you are so right – the slight ripples in each of these scenes adds so much to the reflections!

    • Thank you! Really just in the right place at the right time. Boats moving slowly through still water are the perfect way to generate these images. Loved it!
