After the snow,

the sun comes out and it gets very cold (below 0 F).  But the sun is just a little higher in the sky and a little brighter these days, making the winter landscape almost colorful.

He hasn't started singing yet, but he already has his singing perch picked out. I like the gleam in his eye, as he watches his lady Cardinal work the feeder below.

  1. The Cardinals were sitting high on their perches here this morning, also, Sue. Plus, some of the birds are beginning to transition to their breeding plumage. Spring is on the way, temperatures be darned!

    • Yeah, the birds feel it, but I’m just not getting in the mood with snow every other day and still very cold. Time to visit the tropics, I think!

  2. Your Mr. Cardinal is a very handsome fellow. In my area the cardinals always start singing just before Valentine’s Day. I have five males hanging around my yard this winter. Should be interesting.
