This little Song Sparrow must have gone to the buffet table to grab some food for his young-uns, because it has several different (i.e., different species) food items in its bill. Something for everyone in the nest, it would seem.
What all have you got there?
Amazingly, the bird kept chirping at me, continuously, until I finally spotted it. Meanwhile, its mate was chirping away in another location nearby. Not a great way to keep the nest location a secret. Note: raised crown feathers — the bird was really ticked at me by this point in the photo shoot.
Can anyone identify any of these prey items?
