Unabashed begging, but cute nonetheless.
When the sun is out, it lights up the iridescent feathers of the male Wood Duck’s head. Any area with what looks like black feathers turn iridescent purple, green, even yellow in the light.
There was a lot of courtship activity going on today. Woody was courting a couple of mallard females, emitting soft peeping sounds almost continuously and bobbing his head up and down, much like the male mallards were.
